Privacy Policy

We do not sell your data. We do not run ads. We do not track you across apps. We collect only what's necessary to run the app.
1. Overview
1000 Hours is a skill-tracking app that helps you log practice hours, visualize progress, and connect with communities of people building the same skills. Because 1000 Hours includes social features like skill rooms, chat, and shared session feeds, some of your data is stored on our servers rather than solely on your device.
2. Information You Provide
When using 1000 Hours, you may choose to enter:
- Display name and username
- Skills you are tracking
- Session logs (duration, date, optional notes)
- Self-assessed proficiency ratings
- Prior experience estimates
- Chat messages in skill rooms and crews
- Profile information
This information is stored securely on cloud servers powered by Google Firebase to enable account syncing, social features, and community participation.
3. Account & Authentication
1000 Hours supports Apple Sign In and email/password registration. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only what Apple provides based on your preferences. Your password is handled securely by Firebase Authentication and is never visible to us in plain text.
4. How Your Data Is Used
Your data is used to display your progress, power social features, generate proficiency analytics, send notifications you have opted into, and improve app performance.
Your data is not used for advertising, sale to third parties, or behavioral profiling outside of the app.
5. Social Features & Visibility
Pro subscribers' logged sessions may appear in the shared room feed. Leaderboard visibility is opt-in. Chat messages are visible to room or crew members. Profile visibility can be limited to friends only in Settings.
6. Subscriptions & Payments
All payments are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store credit card information, billing addresses, or payment details. We store only your subscription status to enable Pro features.
7. External Services
- Apple: App distribution, in-app purchases, Apple Sign In, and push notifications
- Google Firebase: Authentication, cloud data storage, and backend infrastructure
We do not integrate third-party advertising networks or behavioral tracking services.
8. Data Collection & Tracking
1000 Hours does not track your activity across other apps, collect precise location data, use advertising identifiers, or sell personal data to third parties.
9. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings tab. Account deletion permanently removes all associated data including sessions, milestones, messages, and profile information. This action cannot be undone.
10. Children's Privacy
1000 Hours is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11. Data Security
Your information is stored securely using Google Firebase's infrastructure, which includes encryption in transit and at rest.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above.
